Right from childhood, my brother and I have been quite interested in knowing more and more about the family business. Owing to this, I have spent most of my time in our childhood with our father in his business environment. However, with time, when I started to get into the nitty-gritty of business operations, I realized that our work was still following outdated techniques despite the latest technological advancements. So, intending to update the manufacturing system and improve its efficiency I decided to pursue a bachelor's in manufacturing engineering so that it can become capable of competing in today’s competitive scenario. Upon the completion of my bachelor’s, I decided to join my family business, but after working there for a few months I came to the realization that manufacturing alone is not the entirety of business. I realized an effective supply chain will be the most crucial factor in updating my father’s business, I want to learn the methods to employ effective process streamlining, cost-saving measures, and efficient waste management in aspects such as supply chain, operations, management, and many more. So with the intent to make my family business more efficient and streamlined, I decided to pursue an MEng in Industrial Engineering.My undergraduate studies have strengthened my fundamentals in Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Tools and Design, and Electronics, which I believe will aid me on my journey.

On the academic front, even though I have not always been the top scorer, I have shown diligence and determination to give my best in every subject. This determination has been the reason that I was able to score a 7.8 CGPA in my Bachelor of Manufacturing Engineering. The course of my education predominantly focused on developing my knowledge of concepts like Manufacturing Design, Manufacturing Automation, Production and Operation Management, and Manufacturing Technology. During my Bachelor’s, I also worked on a project titled “Automated Portable Hammering Machine”, which involved creating a tool that could automate the hammering process, which is widely used in industrial as well as construction activities. My project provided me with the opportunity to practically apply the CAD program CATIA, implement assembly principles, and define the metrics on which electricity supply is measured. Upon the completion of my undergraduate, I got the opportunity to intern at Tata Steels as a junior manufacturing engineer. My role during the internship involved working on the production floor, with the responsibility of redesigning tooling through CAD software to improve efficiency, and collaborating with software engineers to implement sensors, controllers, and AI to automate the manufacturing process.

My decision to pursue a Master's in Industrial Engineering is based on my long-term goal of optimizing my family business by making it more efficient and streamlined.To achieve this goal, I believe an MEng in Industrial Engineering from Concordia University will be the best option for me. The coursework of the program will help me learn in-depth about concepts like Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and Cost engineering, which I believe will aid me in innovating efficient and streamlined business processes.During my time at Concordia University, I hope to engage with the works of leading professors such as Youmin Zhang, and Akif Bulgak. In particular, Mingyuan Chen’s research on “Applied operations research” and “manufacturing systems design & analysis” greatly interests me.I hope to become a part of the Concordia Student Union and volunteer in the events organized by the union. I believe that becoming a part of the student union will help me apply my leadership skills and contribute to the student community apart from my academics.

Pursuing MEng in Industrial Engineering represents a pivotal step towards realizing both my short and long-term goals. My postgraduate program will provide me with the essential knowledge in concepts that would help me optimize my family business. This, in turn, will help me in accomplishing my short-term goal of returning to my family business and assisting my brother in the same.With enhanced knowledge and work experience over the years, I aspire to take my family business to greater heights and expand it to a global level. Beyond my career aspirations, I look forward to working with Saahas, a non-profit organization, who are actively working towards waste management. By working with them, I envision achieving 90% resource recovery in my industry. I believe that completing my postgraduate program at Concordia University will help me realize this dream of mine.

Since childhood, I have been fascinated by orchestrating processes in a seamless way whether these were related to making assignments at school or handing chores at home. Therefore, I wanted to select something similar for my studies after higher secondary education. Upon a discussion with my father, who is a software developer, suggested that I opt for industrial engineering. This is the stream where engineers need to emphasize effective methods to optimize resources like human beings, raw materials, capital, and information for curating products with high efficiency and reducing waste. Fascinated with the description given by my father I completed my BTech Industrial Engineering and gained insights into lean manufacturing as well as operational excellence.To enhance my understanding of project planning and become a leader in industrial engineering, my goal is to join a renowned firm in India. Therefore, I am looking forward to completing a master's in industrial engineering.

With the aim to achieve my goals, I decided to opt for non-medical for my high school studies, which I aced with flying colors. Due to my excellent scores and clearing the entrance test, I secured a seat at Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, Pune for BTech Industrial Engineering. In the four years of my degree, a few disciplines like Industrial Chemistry, Human Factor Engineering, Mechanics of Machines, and Supply Chain Modeling fueled my fascination with industrial tasks.During the last semester, I underwent 6 months of training with BSH Household Appliances Mfg Pvt Ltd Pune. Here, I was responsible for loading, unloading, storing as well as controlling the material in the manufacturing unit. Based on my training, I prepared a project on Material Handling Systems Analysis and Design. The well-prepared project report contributed to my success in earning my bachelor’s degree. My work was also appreciated by BSH, therefore, after completing the degree I was appointed by this firm and worked for one and a half years. My designation here was Junior Industrial Engineer, and my job responsibility was to use simulation models for designing 3D models of production layouts and processes that increase productivity, eliminate wastefulness, and reduce costs. During my tenure with this company, I not only learned the fundamental business traits essential for an engineer but also understood the importance of coordination between management and clients.Apart from my studies, I was the captain of the cricket team of my college and have also played cricket on the national level. Moreover, being a backpacker, traveling around the world is also on my bucket list, on which I have already started working and have witnessed the picturesque, tranquil, and exquisite places of India.

Despite the practical exposure I have gained during my graduation and through my work, I realized that the information I currently possess is very limited, and the competition in this field is too high. So to ace this competitive field and work at higher positions, I am motivated to pursue master in industrial engineering from your esteemed college and develop knowledge in concepts like Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Quality Control Systems, and many more. One of the cornerstones of the university is its renowned Manufacturing and Process Engineering Lab, where I aim to explore advanced automation and waste reduction technologies. I am particularly enticed to study under Prof. Dr. Adisorn Aroonwilas who is famous for his research in “CO2 capture and Greenhouse gas control technology” which aligns with my interest. Finally, I would like to be a part of the university’s ongoing research “Don’t trash it”, the research focuses on segregating and composting waste with the aim to curb textile and clothing waste. I am excited to be a part of this research or work on a similar research aiming to develop effective waste management systems through innovations in component design and processes. Apart from the academics, the university’s health program “UR Fit” will be an added benefit for a fitness freak like me. Upon completion of my master's, I aspire to get The Six Sigma Green Belt Certificate from the Institute of Quality and Reliability which will provide me with the knowledge of evaluating and improving an organization’s production and business processes.Earning this certificate will assist me to come one step closer to working on my long-term goal of working in the BOSCH Group.By working with this company, I wish to volunteer at the Child Health Development Program, which helps to resolve the poor sanitation issues at Bengaluru's government schools.I believe a Master in Industrial Systems Engineering from the University of Regina will provide me with the expertise and knowledge that will help me get a step closer to fulfilling my long-term goal.
