The business world is highly competitive today, and boundaries are blurring owing to globalization and digitization. The rising complexity and increasing competition in technical business projects demand sound managerial skills. From an early age cars and bikes have fascinated me, I have always been attracted to the technicalities of cars, like its engine and transmission, etc. While automobiles have been my passion, my aptitude is inclined toward management and entrepreneurship which I developed during the time I used to help my father in his business. Blending industry knowledge and administrative skills, I look forward to putting on the hat of a manager in the engineering domain. As an automobile engineer, I wish to take up managerial roles in the long run by doing a Master’s in engineering management.I aim to become a successful project manager and work towards the management of innovative projects in the field of automotive.My background in automobile engineering has provided me with basic knowledge of fluid mechanics and engine components. This knowledge I believe will aid me on my journey of pursuing a master's in engineering management.

To work toward my inherent interest in automobiles, I decided to pursue automobile engineering, where I have always been an exemplary student in almost every aspect of learning and ranked among the top 10% of students. My undergraduate in automobile engineering provided me with a comprehensive knowledge of engine components which provided me with basic knowledge of the mechanical behavior of engines and the materials they utilize for the generation of power. Also, to supplement my passion I decided to pursue an additional course titled “The Theory of Machines” which introduced me to concepts like the body components of vehicles, their machine elements, transmitters, balancing of automobiles, etc. In the final year of my undergraduate, during my three-month industrial training, I was placed as a vehicle designer at Maruti Motors. My duties included working under professionals to provide assistance in the conceptualization of the design to taking part in the manufacturing and testing of the cars and motorbikes, I got experience in all phases of production and quality assurance, and this experience furthered my interest in automobile engineering. The internship made me realize that even the minor enhancements in design were a collective effort of the whole team, which helped me develop collaborative and teamwork skills. Additionally, while my team leader was explaining every step of the process, she also took her time to teach me the fundamental principles of effective project management. The experience further strengthened the concepts I learned during my academics. My personal growth has also been accelerated by these experiences, the internship coupled with my academic experience helped me develop critical thinking, improve decision-making, become a better communicator, and taught me how to work in teams.

During my internship, I noticed that even though my undergraduate had made me well-versed in the field of engineering, I still needed practical exposure to the operations and management of business.Hence, this led me to pursue engineering management. Since the discipline combines elements of business management with engineering studies, it will bring versatility to my career. Additionally, the master’s will provide me with knowledge of management in the field of automation, which would include product development, project management, and organizational management. Considering my passion for engineering and my dream of becoming a project administrator, the notion of pursuing higher education that can combine the best of both worlds seemed like a logical stride forward.

A decade from today I wish to see myself working as a VP of operations or a chief operating officer (COO) for a successful automobile manufacturing organization. My path to engineering management was not random rather it was shaped by a series of unexpected turns. My journey commenced in my hometown, growing up, I had a knack for playing instruments and surprisingly I was good at playing them. My fingers danced on the keys of the piano. However, life, as it often does, had different plans for me. As I transitioned into higher education, I opted for non-medical, but because of my interest in art and music, I enrolled in a liberal arts program at Christ University for my undergraduate where I learned about psychology, literature, and culture. During my higher studies, because of a friend of mine, I decided to opt for an elective course in “Technology and Society” which sparked within me a curiosity for software engineering. The intersections of technology with societal progress became a source of fascination for me. The course also provided me with an internship opportunity as an engineering intern where my role was to work under professionals as a software developer and conduct data analysisAn incident occurred during my internship when my project team faced a scope creep issue. Observing how the company mixed its technical expertise in programming with strategic management skills to manage the issue, motivated me to follow a career in engineering management. I aim to become a successful project manager and work on software development projects. The hands-on experience from my internship coupled with the knowledge from technical courses, has provided me with experience in collaborative and cross-functional projects. These experiences have equipped me with a solid foundation in operating Visual Studio Code, and programming languages like Python and C++.

I have always been an exemplary student, from my school to college I ranked among the top students in my class. My undergraduate in liberal arts, even though it is a different field than engineering, through its comprehensive curriculum has fostered in me creativity and an ambition to learn more. My elective course in “Technology and Society” provided me with the knowledge of how technological advancements help in societal progress. It also provided me with basic knowledge of operating Visual Studio Code. Through the course, I got the opportunity to work as an intern at Webflow, where my role was to work under professionals as a software developer and conduct data analysisThe internship allowed me to practically apply the knowledge and skills of C++ and Python which I learned during my course. Upon completion of the internship, my interest in engineering amplified and to supplement it, I decided to pursue a course in advanced Python, where I further honed my skills in programming. My experience during the internship provided me with practical application of the coding languages I had learned through my course. Apart from that, collaborative teamwork, cross-functional project handling, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences were strengthened during the internship.

It was because of the very incident that occurred during my internship that I developed a knack for management. My courses already provided me with the basics of programming languages, but I didn’t want to limit myself to programming. So, to combine the technical expertise of my field with practical managerial strategies, I decided to pursue a master's in engineering management. Considering my passion for managing technical projects and bringing innovation, the program will help me nourish and learn project management, and also provide me the opportunity to work on machine learning and data analysis skills.

My immediate goal is to complete my master’s in engineering management and after that attain an entry-level job in a famous IT firm. After gaining enough practical exposure, my long-term goal is to transition into a role as a senior project manager and manage projects in the software development niche. This experience will provide me with practical knowledge of the management of programming-related projects, help me foster collaboration among diverse people, and ensure the smooth functioning of projects.
