The Sentence note-taking method uses line spacing to separate thoughts, concepts, and ideas from each other. Picture yourself as the Tortoise in the Tortoise and the Hare fable, where you are slowly and steadily, taking your time rather than rushing for the race (carefully understanding each part of the lecture). This method is specifically used in live lectures that give students a good enough chance to create notes with proper sentences to understand the topic that can help them in their further studies.

Process of the Sentence Method

1- The sentence method is a process that requires sentences to summarize and organize your thoughts. For using this note-taking method you should have a quick writing speed, as you would have to record everything your professor says. Such as every new thought, or idea in a new line.

Let's take the example of “The Inner Planets” for understanding this step. In the first step, you need to write down the topic on which you have to develop the notes (The Inner Planets). And then add the main points that are going to be discussed within the topic.

2- Once you have added the main points that you are going to discuss in the topic, next you can add sentences under those main points to get a brief introduction about the topics.

As our main points were Mercury and Venus, we can add further details under the sentence section.
